Google Business Profile
Get your Troutman business onto the map
Those three pins above the search results are driven by Google Business Profiles. Here's what we examine on yours.
Look up a plumber, a dentist or a landscaper in Troutman and the first thing Google shows you is a small map with three pins. Lots of people pick from that trio and go no further. Google chooses those businesses largely from their Business Profiles, weighing things like the category, how thoroughly the profile is filled out, the reviews, and how close each one is to the person searching.
You can't pick up your shop and move it closer to every customer. What you can do is make your profile complete and correct, and make sure it tells the same story as your website. In our experience that's where the fastest, cheapest improvements usually are.
Our eight-point listing review
| Item | What we're checking |
|---|---|
| Primary category | The single most influential setting on the profile. Picking one that's close but not exact is a common, expensive slip. |
| Secondary categories | Added sparingly, and only for work you truly do, so your main specialty stays sharp. |
| Contact details | Business name, street address and phone number, written identically to your website, suite and all. |
| Areas served | The real towns you drive to (Troutman, Statesville, Mooresville) rather than half the state. |
| Service list | Worded in the customer's language, with each service linked to its own page on the site. |
| Pictures | Fresh shots of finished jobs, people, vehicles or the building. We note which kinds you're missing. |
| Reviews | Volume, recency and replies, along with a painless way to ask happy customers. |
| Website button | Sending visitors to the page that matches the listing, not a generic home page. |

Common listing questions
- Do I have to hand over my Google password?
- Never. Everything we check is visible to the public. You get a list of changes to make yourself, or you can give us manager access for a while and revoke it whenever you want.
- When will I notice results?
- Fixing a mistake like the wrong main category or an outdated number can show up in a matter of weeks. Building reviews and a photo library is a slower, steadier climb.
- I work out of my truck. Does this still apply?
- Absolutely. Service-area businesses can keep their home address private and list the communities they cover instead.
